What We Do As An Organization
-
Rescue
Our mission revolves around the rescue and relocation of stray dogs, known as Satos, predominantly from the eastern regions of Puerto Rico, with a particular focus on areas like Rio Grande, Luquillo, and Fajardo. Through a collaborative partnership with Luquillo Safe Haven for Animals, our shelter accommodates these dogs, and we continuously strive to expand our network of foster homes both within Puerto Rico and across various U.S. states. Our objective is to ensure these animals remain out of the shelter environment.
We place strong emphasis on providing comprehensive initial veterinary care, including spaying and neutering whenever feasible, either on the island while the dogs are in the shelter or under the care of a foster home, all before they are ready for adoption.
-
Placement
Our primary focus is to facilitate the adoption of our Puerto Rico rescues into caring homes within the United States. Additionally, we are continually seeking to broaden our network of sister rescues, enabling us to collaborate with organizations capable of finding suitable placements for our dogs.
Our dedicated team manages the coordination of flights, encompassing both cargo and in-cabin arrangements (working with Flight Angels), to transport dogs to the United States. Furthermore, we ensure seamless transportation from the airport to their new adoptive or foster homes, as necessary.
We also extend our assistance to visitors traveling to Puerto Rico who wish to bring a dog home with them.

Education and Volunteer Work
The estimated stray dog population in Puerto Rico totals around 500,000 dogs. To effect meaningful change, we recognize the necessity of extending our efforts beyond mere rescue and placement.
Our commitment extends to community outreach, where we are dedicated to educating the public on the significance of spaying/neutering and the proper care of domesticated animals. In collaboration with a dedicated group of volunteers in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, stationed at the Luquillo Safe Haven for Animals shelter, we coordinate various activities such as dog walks, play sessions, and the provision of essential necessities like food, water, and medication for our rescued dogs.
